I have been a member of Ontario Nature since a small child in the 40s and continue to be amazed and nurtured by nature. I am an amateur botanist and love trying to identify mosses. But the use of just common names is confusing as “we are the folk” and there are many folk names in the plant kingdom depending on region and whimsy. The Winter Species Watch article in the Winter 2021 issue has a rare moss and one of the two common Larch trees, but no Latin!!
It would be helpful if you could add the Latin names when identifying plants. That is how we know who they are and what family they belong to. I appreciate that this is not necessary for birders but does seem essential to those of us who love to botanize.
Thanks for all your continuing good work.
