Thank you and Patricia Hluchy for the excellent article, “Trout in Trouble” in the Spring 2022 edition of Ontario Nature! It was skillfully crafted – well done! It’s obvious why Patricia was a finalist for the National Magazine Award for her article about American ginseng.
I’m pleased to report that Peel Region recently passed a resolution supporting the Coalition for the West Credit River’s Monitoring and Adaptive Management Plan and recommendations. Our Coalition’s Technical Committee has had several meetings with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks and we’re optimistic there will be some strong requirements in the Environmental Compliance Approval, should the project go ahead.
Although a contractor won the contract (lowest of two bids) on March 24 to build the wastewater plant in a second round of bidding (no bids on the first round), we are optimistic that at least some, but likely many of our recommendations will be implemented.
